Friends of SFD
The Friends of Sir Francis Drake is a parent (and teacher) group that aims to support the school's value and enhance school life. We do this by holding events to raise money, which is used to pay for, or subsidise, special events and new school equipment. In the past, money raised has been used to pay for theatre trips and the cost of coaches for the annual end of year whole-school trip to Joss Bay.
The Friends of Sir Francis Drake need YOU!
All parents can play a role in supporting school life, with many hands making light work. You could:
• Bake some treats for a school bake sale
• Donate a prize for a school raffle
• Man a stall at a school fete
• Lead a team at a school quiz night
If you're a working parent you may not have the time to support a school event, but your employer may have a giving scheme that the Friends could access on behalf of the school. You could help us raise more money than all events combined!
We are also looking to step up our fundraising efforts through applications for grant funding. This is particularly important as the new school build nears completion. There is a need for additional library books and furniture, and play equipment would really benefit the school as it looks to welcome event more children from September 2017.
Ideas for new and fun ways to raise money are very welcome. Keep an eye on the school newsletter and online calendar for details of events where you can get involved with the Friends or get in touch with us by emailing FriendsSFD@yahoo.com.
We look forward to building an even better Sir Francis Drake school with you!
