Reading

Do you enjoy reading 'Amazing Grace'?

Why did you enjoy reading it? Would you recommend it to a friend?

How did it make you feel?

Did it teach us anything important?

The person who writes the book is called the author. The author of this book is Mary Hoffman.

Here is another book by Mary Hoffman that is also about Grace!

Can you make any connections between the books?

What is the same? What is different? Do you prefer any of these books?

Grace and Family

Writing Task

There are lots of happy parts of this story and also lots of sad parts. Grace must feel lots of different emotions, from when she is playing to dress up to when the children at school are unkind to the end when she performs beautifully as Peter Pan!

What do you think she was thinking and feeling in each of these pictures? Can you write a thought bubble for each of these pictures?

Remember to use the first person e.g I feel frustrated because the children do not believe in me

and BOYS sentences (But, Or, Yet, So)

Writing Challenge: Can you write a diary entry from the perspective of Grace?

Key Questions:

What happened in class at the beginning and how did she feel?

What happened when she told Ma and Nana?

Where did Nana take her?

How did the audition go?

How did the play go and how did she feel at the end?

Remember to use the first person in your diary entry!
